MARG awarded Bijapur airport development contract

The Government of Karnataka has awarded the contract for development and operation of the greenfield Bijapur airport to MARG Ltd., an infrastructure and real estate development company established in 1994.
The airport will come up on 727 acres of land in Burnapur village in Bijapur. Under the deal MARG will design, develop, operate and manage the airport for 30 years.
Thereafter the term can be extended by the company for another 30 years. After expiry of this 60-year term, the agreement may be extended by a further 30 years based on mutual consent between the Government of Karnataka and MARG.
Karnataka Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa will do the bhoomi puja at the site on 7th December, 2008.
