World Airways, a subsidiary of Global Aviation Holdings, and Silk Way Airlines are teaming up to provide outsized air freight service to the U.S. military. According to the arrangement, they will provide freight services beginning in January utilizing Silk Way’s IL-76 aircraft.

Global Aviation provides lift for U.S. military passengers and cargo on its two charter airlines, World Airways and North American Airlines, through its teaming arrangement with the Air Mobility Command. World has been supporting U.S. military operations since 1955.

“Silk Way’s experience and expertise in handling outsized cargo, especially to non-traditional destinations, is a great addition to our military support program,” said Rob Binns, Global’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “We are pleased to be teaming with them for this critical cargo service.”

“World Airways complements Silk Way’s capabilities given its many years of experience dealing with the U.S. Military,” said Zaur Akhundov, President of Silk Way Airlines. “We are looking forward to offering additional services to the U.S. military that are naturally complementary to World, North American, and Silk Way’s existing routes as well as the natural advantages offered by the Baku hub.”
