Soon cities like Jamshedpur and Bokaro will have their airports.  A MOU in this regard has been signed between Govt. of Jharkhand and Airports Authority of India on February 16, 2012, in the presence of Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Mr. Arjun Munda.  Mr. Sibu Soren was also present at the MOU signing function which was attended by other senior officers of Jharkhand Government and AAI.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Mr. Munda, said that work for survey of land for the airport has already started.  The airports will promote air connectivity and will help in promoting economy of the state.  Mr. Soren said that in addition to development of two these airports, there are plans to develop another eleven air strips in the coming year in Jharkhand.

Speaking on this occasion V.P. Agrawal, Chairman, AAI, mentioned that state government will provide land to AAI on priority so that after developing the airports, charter and regular flight can start at the earliest.  The operation will start with ATR-72 aircraft initially and later on once the traffic is increased, operation of bigger aircraft will also start from these airports, he said.
