‘We felt an inherent need wherein, an individual was restricted to shop for the same brands online that he saw in the retail outlets. The same brands played with margins by offering discounts and snap deals through various mediums’, said Augustine Chalissery, Founder and CEO.   ‘The only hurdle faced to shop for what you wanted from which ever supplier online or offline was the know-how of logistics. The same need was felt among Manufacturers or Suppliers who had excellent products but lacked the finances to build a brand.  By being the single point interface where on one side we had our customer and on the other our third-party service providers, we were able to offer a seamless integrated service from the Supplier to the Customer’s residence or warehouse with no intermediaries’.

The design of the platform is such that it takes over the responsibility of collection from any city in the world with delivery Direct-to-Home (India at the moment), regardless of size or value. It could be an item seen online or in a new city while on holiday andthe obvious question being how it could be delivered, or when the bags are re-done several times over to be in line with the weight restrictions of airlines for excess baggage, or when there is this call from the wild to launch a new business, but the complexities of logistics is a major hurdle. Hundreds of situations when you wish there was someone you could call and talk to.

The business arena is fraught with trust deficiency. The traditional way in which the distributor took on the overheads of promoting the suppliers brand is no more practical. The Distributor would not be keen to outlay any expense in promoting a new entrants brand as he would suspect that the supplier was riding piggy back on him for the short term with the intention of entering the market on his own, once the brand was established. The supplier too would never have the comfort factor on whether the Distributor was loyal to him in promoting his brand over the ones that the distributor was already representing.

SPD not only takes the Supplier to their target segment but, also takes responsibility of handling the deliveries directly from the Manufacturing Plant, Warehouse, or from a Free Trade Distribution Centre in Mumbai to the end-user, bypassing the entire distribution chain. The Firm takes complete operational responsibility of the back-end, integrating several third-party service providers onto a single seamless real-time platform.

The Supplier gets to concentrate on their front-end core activities, while the Firm manages the entire procurement, supply chain, warehousing, inventory control and distribution process from purchase order management to proof of delivery. The Firm also handled back-end supply chain operations for Online Stores who had web-based ordering systems with their distributors/vendors/end user/customers across India.
