The Ministry of Railways has announced that Sowmya Raghavan is its new Financial Commissioner.

Prior to this, she was General Manager of Central Railway – the first lady to hold the post in the entire history of Central Railway.

She belongs to the 1973 batch of the Indian Railway Accounts Service and has held other notable positions in the past, including that of Advisor (Finance), Ministry of Railways (Railway Board).
