DP World Wins Dubai Award For Sustainable Transport

DP World, UAE Region has won the prestigious Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport (DAST) for its work in improving the efficiency of the supply chain. The award was presented by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and patron of the Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport, to Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region.
DAST is an annual award organised by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). DP World, UAE Region received the award for 2012 in the Mobility Management category for its “Automated Gate System” project, which commenced operation in Jebel Ali Port in August 2010, at an event held in Dubai on February 14, 2012.
The Automated Gate determines each truck’s entrance-time and automatically identifies the trucks, feeding this data into an innovative system that registers and generates pertinent information to facilitate and increase the capacity of the workflow.
During the ceremony, Mr Al Muallem extended his grateful thanks on behalf of DP World to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Mr. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman and Executive Director of the RTA.
