West Siberian Railways loaded 156,052 million tons of freight from January to July 2012, an increase of 4,372 million tons or 2.9 percent over the same period last year.

In particular, various types of freight exceeded last year’s figures, including coal, which was up 2.3 percent to 112,544 million tons, oil, up 10.9 percent to 10,165 million tons, and coke, up by 8.1 percent to 4,622 million tons. In addition, the volume of construction materials loaded rose by 15.6 percent to 6,799 million tons.

Freight shipments of grain and milled products from January to July 2012 also exceeded last year’s level, rising by 32.6 percent, to 2,138 million tons.

Freight turnover in the first seven months of 2012 increased by 1.1 percent compared to the same period in 2011 and amounted to 180.173 billion ton-kilometres, according to the office of corporate communications at West Siberian Railways.
