South Road service relocation works
By NewsDesk
From next week, preliminary works for the South Road Superway project will start on South Road near Regency Road and continue through to early next year.
These works, largely service relocations, are the precursor to construction of the elevated roadway along South Road.
This stage of works, the undergrounding of high voltage electricity cables and shifting telecommunication cables near and at theSouth Road / Regency Road intersection, will clear the underground area of any obstructions and ensure continuity of service throughout construction.
To minimise traffic disruption, construction crews from the Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI) and ETSA, will work from 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Saturday, outside peak traffic times.
Some works will also be scheduled at night to minimise traffic disruption.
Electronic warning signs will be positioned at key locations to advise road users in advance of the works.
Some lane and speed restrictions of 25km/h will be in place to protect workers and road users.
DTEI thanks motorists for their patience while these essential infrastructure works are carried out.
